A few weeks ago the Food & Drug Administration put out yet another alert on a common drug – this time Zocor, a cholesterol lowering drug taken by more than 2 million Americans. They said that the drug can cause a potentially severe muscle disease, called myopathy, especially in the first year of taking the medication. It affected people who were taking a “higher dosage”, yet as far as I am concerned, no dosage is safe.
There aren’t any studies out there that show that lowering cholesterol actually saves lives. Drugs may actually cause you cholesterol levels to decrease, but does that decrease the risk of heart disease? Can’t it be done better by healthy eating and exercising? I see too many people making excuses when it comes to exercise and eating well – “I have no time”, “I have no money”, “I have no….”. There are always excuses, but how does that help?
We all have 24 hours in our day, we just choose to do different things with it. Sleep in or exercise? Surf the internet or get some sleep? We all have some money, we just choose to do different things with it. I see people who say they can’t afford chiropractic care, yet they take vacations, go to movies, and buy new cars. It’s a matter of choice. Just like deciding between eating a salad or a cheeseburger, it’s a choice.
If you don’t make the time for your health now and don’t make healthy choices, you will pay later in some way. Think about it and take responsibility for your health, you are the one who gets to make the choices about what you eat, what you do, if you get adjusted, if you exercise, etc. What choices are you making?
