I literally flew around the world — Atlanta ➝ Zurich, Switzerland ➝ Qatar ➝ Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ➝ Seoul, Korea ➝ Detroit ➝ back to Atlanta. In just 14 days, I spent three nights sleeping on airplanes, taught fellow chiropractors about pediatric and perinatal care, and made new friends and lifelong memories.
The first leg of the journey was 6 days in Switzerland with Wanderlearn Retreats. We learned, shared stories, hiked, shopped, rode scooters, ate fondue, and hiked some more. The highlight for me was The Stoos Ridge hike — 6 miles along the top of a mountain, overlooking snow-covered Alps and sparkling lakes. Absolutely breathtaking.
From there, I flew to Malaysia with a layover in Qatar. Flying over Iraq and skirting the border of Iran was surreal — beautiful and a little nerve-wracking at the same time. I loved looking out the window at the mountains in Austria and then the desert in Turkey & Iraq. Doha’s airport was spectacular, giving me time to shop, eat, and get ready for a 7-hour overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia was 5 days of adventure before teaching the Webster Technique seminar for the ICPA. I visited top tourist attractions, temples, shopping areas and even got to feed monkeys 🐒. The food was incredible (and yes, I even braved the infamous durian fruit — smelly and not exactly delicious 😂). More than anything, I loved spending time with an amazing group of chiropractors and the chance to learn about Malaysian culture.
My flight home included an overnight flight to Seoul and then a 3-hour layover where I had access to the sky club and was able to take a shower, as I had a 13+ hour flight ahead of me. My flight to Atlanta was cancelled so they re-directed me to Detroit (and then to Atlanta), most of the flight it was cloudy and dark outside (so I couldn’t see Alaska after all), yet the overall flight was great — and I’m so thankful for the upgrade to Delta One and the lie flat seats — a game changer on those long overseas flights!
Teaching, traveling, exploring, and experiencing new cultures fills me up so much, it’s what I love to do…..but there’s nothing like coming home. ❤️ It was a whirlwind of a trip, and I’m so blessed to be able to have these experiences.
You want to see photos & videos of the trip? They are on both the office Instagram and Facebook pages (or even more my personal page if we know each other).
