Busy times!

Wow this has been a crazy month, and I’m glad it’s over! Let’s see, I raced in two triathlons, one 10k race, traveled to Wisconsin for a weekend, traveled to Chattanooga for a weekend, traveled to Lake Lanier Islands for a weekend, added an extra work day to my schedule, and totally converted all of our computer software to a new program, requiring many many extra hours of work. August is looking like it will be a better month, with no traveling, only one triathlon, and hopefully some more “down” time.

I like staying busy, but sometimes life can get really crazy, and July was it. At the same time, that is when I think I do best – give me more to do and I’m happy. Give me nothing to do and I waste more time. Does that happen to anyone else? I’m so glad I like running, as it really is my time to “de-stress” and let myself think, and ultimately get/stay in shape and be healthy. Running in times of stress always does a body well. Spending time with my son is also my down time, as there’s nothing like playing with a 3-year old – another great way to “de-stress.”

So let’s see – August will bring a new employee to our office (announcement on that coming soon), as well as the Acworth Women’s Triathlon on August 7th. It’s an all women’s triathlon that our office sponsor’s, and a great way for a woman to get started in triathlons. It’s too late to do the race this year (as it’s already sold out), but put it on your calendar for 2012!

If you aren’t sure if you can do it, ask me or better yet, look into Get Fit Atlanta, a triathlon and running training program that can help anyone get to the finish line (assuming you show up). Right now, many people in the group are training for the Savannah half marathon in November. If you’ve ever wanted to run a half marathon, this could be a great race to do. It will be flat, scenic, and you still have plenty of time to train for it. Ask me about it sometime!
