Hiking the Grand Canyon & Crushing Your Goals

There’s nothing quite like standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon — it’s vast, humbling, and awe-inspiring. But the real magic happens when you hike it. Every step down into that canyon is a reminder of how powerful we are when we commit to a goal.

Just last month I tackled this challenge, bringing along four friends to hike to the bottom & back to the top in one day. It was epic, hard, fun, hot, hilly, windy and more…all combined into one long day. The hike down South Kaibab trail to Phantom Ranch was unforgettable. We dipped our feet into the cold Colorado River and drenched our clothing to stave off the heat. The hike up was hot & hard, where the Canyon reminded us who’s the boss.

This was so much more than a hike. It was soul enrichment. It was deep conversations. It was laughing until our faces hurt, quiet reflection, and connections made that I’ll carry forever. It challenged our mind and body. The views were breathtaking, and our souls were filled with belief, love and a sense of accomplishment.

Hiking the Grand Canyon isn’t just a physical challenge — it’s a mental one. The descent tests your knees, and the climb back up tests your grit. But with preparation, focus, and a strong “why,” the impossible becomes doable. Just like in life.

Setting a goal — whether it’s hiking rim to rim or launching a business, writing a book, or showing up for your family in a new way — takes vision and courage. And the moment you step into action, just like on that first step into the canyon, you realize: progress happens one step at a time.

You won’t always feel strong. You’ll get tired, maybe even doubt yourself. But when you keep moving — step after step, breath after breath — the summit eventually comes into view.

And when it does? You realize you were capable all along.

What’s your “Grand Canyon” right now?
