Scout University
Recently I went to my chiropractic alma mater, Life University for Cub Scout leader training. Yep, I’m a den leader for my 8-year-old son’s pack, and yep it was weird being back at Life University for a non-chiropractic function. I had an amazing time learning about geocaching, camping and cooking outdoors, STEM activities, and making rockets! There were scout leaders from all over the southeast in attendance, and I definitely felt a sense of pride being associated with the program. I am part of an amazing pack, and that’s mostly due to the amazing group of leaders and volunteers that we have.
I grew up in the girl scout program, and I vividly remember my mom volunteering. She went to the Juliette Gordon Lowe house with us (where Girl Scouts was founded), and she helped plan meetings, outings, and events. I honestly didn’t really appreciate all her hard work until now, as I am putting in that same work with my son. Here’s hoping my son will one day appreciate it as well. 😊
When my son came home from school last year, talking about the scouting program and wanting to make rockets, I really had no intention of being a den leader. However, knowing that the other leaders in the program had stepped up to the plate as volunteers and were also learning as they go, I decided to join the fun! So, as I was sitting at Life University last week, getting ready to learn about STEM activities I can do with the boys, it hit me; you get out….what you put in. This not only goes for volunteer organizations, but with your health as well!
Maybe it was all the chiropractic vibes from being at Life University which helped spark this connection. You know your body has the amazing capability to heal and flourish and grow, and when given the proper conditions, it will do just that. You’ll get out of your health what you put into it. Are you willing to make changes? Are you willing to make the first step? Getting adjusted and making sure your nervous system is functioning properly is one way to set yourself up for success and make sure you’re giving your body the best conditions to thrive. Don’t be afraid to put in a little bit of work because the reward is so worth it. Do you want to be more active? Do you want to try yoga? Do you want to start eating better? Whatever your goal or desire, be sure to put in the time and effort. As always, the team at Active Life Chiropractic is here to support you along your health journey.
